We see there are so many different religions existing in this world today. The differing views of major religions starts with "their concept of God" which can be found from their respective religious scriptures.
We as practising Muslims are all for trying to build bridges and foster better understanding between the people of different faiths, but not to the extent of the false ideology of 'Unity of Religions' as propagated to us by Jilani mia & FUREC. The ideology of secularism and religious pluralism are concepts which are designed to disengage religious people from their faiths. Not only is this concept a danger to Islam, but to all other religions as well.
If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter He will be in the ranks of those who have lost (All spiritual good)." - [al Quran 3:85]
We are instructed to call upon non-Muslims to the way of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, and this is in their best interest, & thus da'wa (calling) to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala is the best advice given to them. One of the great ways of da'wa is to deal with non-muslims justly and to guide them to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala and His Beloved Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam. And the best way is based upon good knowledge. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala tells us :
'And O Muslims! Dispute not with the people of the Book but in a better manner; except those of them who did wrong and say, 'we have believed in that which has been sent to us and what has been sent down to you and our God and your God is one and we have submitted before Him'.
[Qur'an al kareem - 29:46 ]
The above ayat calls the believers to argue with the People of the Book in a way that is better, i.e. inviting them to Allah with His ayat (verses, proofs, evidences, etc.), using the clearest indicative words which proves the objective and to avoid being harsh save with such of them as do wrong. It is not a call for interfaith dialogue. It is a call for a common word between them and us. This word has been defined by Allah, most High, in the following Ayah:
Say you, O people of the Book! Come towards such a word which is common between us and you, that is we worship none but Allah and associate no partner with Him; and none of us make one another as Lord beside Allah; then if they do not accept then say, 'bear witness that we are Muslims.'
[Qur'an al kareem 3:64]
Muslims are not to compromise the basics of his/her deen. It also does not mean that Muslims should indulge with the kuffar in any aimless dialogue such as: "Tell us how you pray and we will tell you how we pray," as commanded by Jilani mia and his associates from FUREC. The real issue is: Who deserves to be worshipped Alone?
They worship idols, images, men, etc. We worship the true God of all Creation. So we call them with the right knowledge to abandon shirk and to submit to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. The best methodology of da'wa is that exemplified by the Most Beloved Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam when he sent Mu'ath ibn Jabal Radi Allahu anhu to the "People of the Book" in Yemen. The first thing He Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam commanded him to do is to call them to tawheed and belief in Hadrat Muhammad Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam as His Most Beloved Messenger. Then he told him:
"If they obey you to do so, then inform them that Allah has enjoined upon them five salawaat [prayers] in every day and night [in twenty-four hours], and if they obey you and do so, then inform them that Allah has made it obligatory for them to pay sadaqa [zakaat] from their properties and it is to be taken from the wealthy among them and given to poor among them." [Sahih Bukhari & Muslim]
The efforts to gain the friendship of the Jews and Christians, non-muslims are useless, as they will never be pleased with the Muslims until the Muslims follow their religion.
And never the Jews and Christians will be pleased with you unless you follow their Din (creed). say then! The guidance of Allah is the only guidance', (O listener who he may be) if you become follower of their desires, after the knowledge that has come to you, then no one will be your protector from Allah and no helper.
[Qur'an al kareem 2:120]
