'Jaam-e-Noor' is a widely respected Islamic magazine as well as a leading publication of the Ahl as-Sunnat wa'l Jamaah, but totally independent of Khicchocha Shareef. The magazine was first edited and published by Hadrat Allama Arshad al Qadiri (Alaihir Rehman)
Mahanamah Jaam-E-Noor
With the deviation of the Muslim community from its age-old religious teachings and traditional and cultural values, the unity and strength of the Muslims in India began to eclipse, and consequently Islam became weak root and branch. The Muslims fell victims to internal differences and sectarian strife and they were divided into heterogeneous / different groups and sect and as a result they were torn by heretic viewpoints expressed by the so-called leaders.
In addition to this, we neglected those orientalists, who were hatching conspiracies to infuse un-Islamic elements into Islamic teachings.
However, there were some Ulama who held fast to the views of the pious predecessors and exerted themselves for the restoration of Islamic principles and rules and for the safeguarding of the dignity and hounour of the Holy Prophet and the Aulia-e-Kiraam (saintly persons) through their teaching, polemics, speeches and pens.
But in this battle between Kufr and Iman (infidelity and faith), those persons, who were defending Islam with their pens, were crowned with success more than others. Because intellectual and organizational revolutions have always been launched by the mighty pens of the writers.
Such a great penman was the late Allama Arshadul Qadri, a great and prolific Islamic scholar. (May his soul rest at peace!) He edited and published a monthly magazine “Jaam-e-Noor” from Kolkata in the sixties of the twentieth century. With his unique writing, he introduced a new style in religious criticism, which won him a critical acclaim and the magazine gained wider name and fame.
Jaam-e-Noor became a representative magazine for the Ahl-e-Sunnah Wal-Jama’ah. Although the whole magazine was considered to be unique, two of its columns bore the sublime examples of Hazrat Allama’s literary masterpiece. One of them was “Ta’ziraat-e-Qalam” which dealt with religious criticism and the other was “Mahfil-e-Haram” which contained moral stories in the forms of modern short stories. The contents of these two columns have been published as separate books named “Ta’ziraat-e-Qalam” and “Lalah Zaar” by Matkatba Jaam-e-Noor, Delhi. These two books, written some forty years ago, are widely popular among the readers even these days.
Hazrat Allama was always entangled in financial constraints, paucity of resources and helpless loneliness, but he remained steadfast even in adverse circumstances and kept moving towards his goals. However, he had to stop the magazine partly due to the attitude of the government which had started looking askance at the magazine and partly due to his expanding engagements / busy schedules as his religious and organizational responsibilities compelled him to travel frequently to Europe, America and several Asian countries.
|
Thus, he stopped issuing the magazine but he always used to express his emotional attachment with the magazine, which had become synonymous with his name.

How can this be a conspiracy if independent Muslim organisations take FUREC to task ?
Again let us re-iterate this is nothing to do with individual personalities its about Islamic Shariah!
Extract From the Editorial of
Jam e Nur
[Monthly Jam e Nur, Delhi, May 2006]
Editor: Grandson of ra'is al-qalam [Master of the Pen], 'allama [the Great Scholar] Arshad al-Qadri, 'alayhi al-rahmah, the respected: Khushtar Nurani.
[The following editorial was also published in the book Sahifa e Hidayat by Hadrat Shaykh al-Islam: Page: 241-261, & as an introduction to the book Izhar e Haqiqat by Mufti Hamid Raza, 'urf Shams al-Qamr, Ridwi Qadri Faydi.]
The Editor Writes:
In my previous editorial I wrote:
After the arrival of communism in the world wherein western society & culture hastily began to lose its religious values, the truth seeking souls simultaneously became inclined towards Islam. To combat this practically Western Intellectuals in their very first instance began their struggle in a cultured & academic fashion [front] to keep their citizens distant from Islam. Since, communication [& information] technology was not so mobile & effective they were not so successful however, as the barriers & gaps in the field of communication were gradually removed, so many ways to acquire information have been made easily accessible.
Consequently, the peoples power [control & freedom] over their likes & dislikes grew & once again they became inclined towards Islam's cogent theological views. The inclination & attraction of the common western citizens towards Islam made their senses deprived since; Islamic theological views contradict their so-called civilisation, culture & materialistic disposition. This idea has housed itself in their hearts & mind that should Islam achieve prevalence in the West then their foolish values designed for their self interest would end & their ancestral religion will lose its cognition, identity & relevance. This psychological fear & anxiety has also brought them out of the wine-goblets of their so-called virtues & self-acclaimed [self-defined] civility & have descended on base trends, immorality & aggression of which we have observed many examples in the last two decades.
Current Status of Muslims: Advancing [Progressive] or Defensive [in a state of defence -feeling vulnerable]
As a consequence of the continued naked aggression against Islam on an International stage it is seated somewhere in the sub-conscious mind of the Muslim world that we [Muslims] are on a defensive position. But, my opinion is this that if one was to see the other side of the coin; in the seventh century when the Sun of Islam ascended from the horizon of kufr subsequently from its rays the darkness of mankind's night became lastingly vibrant. Those whose hearts inhabited guidance would through its radiance trace the destination from their lost ways & those who became habituated to lose their ways they in refuge in the court of kufr were preventing those universal rays from spreading but as they were preventing its range was increasing. If this is not evidence of its reality & truth then what is it; that the rising 'movement' from a small region of the Arabian Peninsula in only a few hundred years became the palpitation of Mankind's hearts. Who knows how & what kinds of scientific, academically intellectual, social, societal, cultural & civilisational trickeries have been employed to eradicate Islam within these fifteen hundred years & how & what kinds of [collective & individual] plans have been conspired by the most influential & distinguished minds & fortified powers, but despite these four-sided conspiracies, assaults, hostilities & oppositions Islam disseminated in the expanse of the earth. If one is to examine from this side of the coin then surely our position is "Progressive".
The world's opposition is their concern [fear] of this only … of our very advancing & progressive status which prevents them from sitting in peace. In the beginning they applied their powers only to erase our religious identity & Islamic behaviour [attitudes] but as long as oppression & enmity increased Muslims too were increasingly vehemently resolute in guarding their religious symbols, traditions & values. When the West observed this then moving on from oppression & barbarity they engaged in interfering, tampering & distorting Islamic Creed & Traditional Sciences in the pretext of research & rationalisation of religions & in opposition of religious dominance & influence, initiated secular, irreligious, religious pluralism & capitalist movements. Sensing this recurring dangerous conspiracy [in different pretexts] the [acclaimed] Poet of the East [Dr. Iqbal] once said:
"Fikr e 'arab ko de ke farangi takhayyulat,
Islam ko Hijaz o Yemen se nikal do,
Woh faqah kash ke mawt se darta nahin dhara,
Ruh e Muhammadi uske badan se nikal do."
Translation:
"Conferring Western ideas, to Arabian thought,
From Hijaz and Yemen: Islam extract,
That famished who, of death is not afraid,
Spirit of Muhammad, from his body extract."
Under the influence of this Western civilisation in order to extract the Ruh e Muhammadi [Soul of Muhammad, salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam] from the bodies of Muslims, Akbar, in the 17th Century laid the foundation of a New Unified Religion, the Din e ilahi [Divine Religion] which was a combination of multi-religion & multi-faith teachings, rites, customs & theological interpretations & propounded the corrupt & mischievous "Wahdat e Adyan" [Unity of Religions]. As a result, in the Kalimah Tayyibah [Sacred Article of Faith] 'Muhammad Rasul Allah' [salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam] was replaced with 'Akbar Khalifatu Allah' & accordingly thus recited, swine & dogs were venerated, in the pretext of zamin bowsi [kissing the ground] a culture of prostrations were initiated, inter-faith marriages became common, Hijab was banned & modesty disappeared, alcohol consumption & gambling became fashionable, pronouncements of Hindu Muslim unity were ripe & Islamic Sha'a'ir [Symbols] were subject of public ridicule. In such a flood of kufr & heresy if Hadrat Imam e Rabbani [Mujaddid Alif Thani, Shaykh Ahmad Faruq Sirhindi] had not armoured himself for arrest [in defiance of Akbar's reforms & ideologies] then the religious identity of Muslims would have breathed its last. Influenced by his courageous defiance, struggle & religious pursuit, the Poet of the East had to say:
"Gardan na jhuki jiski Jahangir ke agai,
Jis ke nafs garam se hai garmi e ahrar,
Woh Hind me sarmaya e millat ka nigihban,
Allah ne barwaqt kiya jis ko khabardar."
Translation:
"Kneck of whose lowered not before Jahangir,
Warmth from whose person is fervour of the free,
He in Hind custodian of the millats treasure,
Allah did alert whom in opportune time."
[millat: Muslim Community, Nation]
Initiatives of Ideological Apostasy
On this occasion the rebellious storm of kufr & heresy was brought under control but, year after year, the theological & ideological war provoked by the west against Islam on an International front could not be prevented. After Orientalisation in the West & after Din e Ilahi in the East the endeavours to abolish Muslim Personal Law simultaneously working towards introducing & legislating civil codes of law, assaults on Mosques & Islamic Educational institutes, misconceptions & erroneous rumours opposing Jihad, endeavours to undermine & end the constitutional status of Dar al-Qada', the susceptibility to & tendency of irreligiousness & enlightened Muslims, in India the recurrence of unprincipled thought & ideas, support & allying of secular attitudes & behaviours, self-interested Muslim writers, intellectuals & Muslim Scholars & secularism, pronouncements of Unity of Religions, Uniting of Religions, Respect of Religions, all are elements of the West's civilisational & theological war against Islam in order to make Muslims secular. In other words, to steal their [Islamic] identity & provisions of living [i.e. Islam], by setting them afloat in the stream of Hindu Nationalisation. This conspired planning is such that its exposure & uncovering is incumbent upon today's authoritative men of rank & position. This initiative of theoretical & ideological apostasy is so grave where a Muslim beheads himself by his own sword & he observes no stain of blood on his sword. Affected & influenced by this theoretical & ideological apostasy when great Muslim intellectuals, writers, even Scholars could not prevent themselves from ungrudgingly surrendering their faith & beliefs at the feet of idols, then what can be expected from a common Muslim?
Approximately eighteen months before today I proposed a question for a written discussion that, "What are the fundamental issues of Hindustani Muslims?" In which I invited the Ahl as-Sunnah wa'l Jama'ah's famous writer Mawlana Yasin Akhtar Misbahi & the well-known journalist of the weekly "New World" [magazine] Jamshayd 'adil 'Aligh, to write compositions. Both these sagacious & prudent writers exposing & highlighting this theoretical & ideological apostasy wrote:
"The religious & milli [follower of a Muslim Nation] identity of Muslims in the opinion of sectarian elements are particularly deemed apprehensive like thorns. They relish that Muslims abandon their, this identity & distinct recognition setting [themselves] afloat in the stream of Hindu nationalisation. Without grumble or complaint are made targets of their own aggression on themselves. This is the ancient [historical] desire of sectarian elements that, Muslims of India, relinquish their religious identity, subsequently announce their acquittal [liberation] from their past, whereas, [on the contrary] Muslims will not at any price or under any circumstances abandon their Islamic identity, neither are willing now nor will be willing to do so in the future. How can Muslims make such a formidable error of killing the self & of making the body soulless?"
[Mawlana Misbahi: Jam e Nur: November Issue 2004, Page: 21-22]
"When your identity itself is endangered then other issues merely assume secondary status. It is true & a sheer bitter truth that, under a shrewd & well planned conspiracy the religious identity of Muslims are targeted so that they may not take heed of their other affairs."
[Ibid: Jamshayd 'adil 'Aligh]
Another Campaign of Ideological Apostasy Initiated
By taking advantage of the Gujarat riots & sectarian situation of the country, the President of India, Dr. A.P.J. 'Abdul Kalam held a meeting on the 15th of October, 2003 in Surat, Gujarat. In this special meeting, multi-faith leaders of the country; Islam, Hindu faith, Christian faith, Sikh faith, were invited to participate. In this meeting Dr. 'Abdul Kalam officiated the "Surat Spiritual Declaration" in which [some aims & objects include:] Unity of Religions, Uniting of religions, respect of religions, acceptance of religions, joint multi-faith prayers & multi-faith common kitchens & joint celebration of multi-faith festivals & rituals, writing of books on wahdat e adyan [Unity of Religions] & disseminating the message of Universal Truths & Values in all religions was suggested & upon which leaders of all religions including Muslim leaders sealed their approval with their signatures announcing the second renaissance of [Akbar's] Din e Ilahi. After which the leaders of all [Indian] religions popularising the SSD & ceasing religious dominance & identity from all of the country's citizens deliberated upon establishing a Society to unite them in a National stream. Consequently, in June 2004 a Society was practically established in New Delhi, the name by mutual opinion was agreed: Foundation For Unity of Religions & Enlightened Citizenship, in short referred to as FUREC.
At this moment the SSD & FUREC's Memorandum are before us. Before we examine the SSD or the aims & objects of the Memorandum, let's see what the position is of the one who officiated the SSD from a religious perspective & through which circumstances [background] it developed [surfaced]? One's upbringing at home & local environment & circumstances are a mirror of man's thoughts, ideas & personal behaviours & attitudes. With this in mind, if we were to reflect on Dr. 'Abdul Kalam, then we will not find it difficult at all in understanding the SSD or the aims & objects of FUREC's Memorandum.
At this moment I have in my review Dr. 'Abdul Kalam's biography "Parwaz", which he authored a few years ago. Observe some excerpts from his biography void of our comments:
"We both would leave for a long evening walk, starting from Music street & heading towards the sandy coast of the island. During which Jalal ud-Din & I would converse on spiritual topics. The atmosphere of Ramishoram would help in this discussion with the large number of visitors coming here. Our first encampment would be at the splendid Mandir [Hindu temple] of Bhagwan Siva. Like any of the many visitors arriving from the very distant corners of the country we too would circulate [do tawaf] of the Mandir with the same devotion & would feel inside us a wave of energy."
[Parwaz, Page: 7, Matbu'ah Qawmi Council bara e furugh Urdu, Delhi]
"I would look at Jalal ud-Din [brother-in-law] with astonishment & then would look towards the large crowd of visitors around the Mandir who would bathe in the sea [to cleanse from sins], fulfil rites & sing hymns, with the zeal of respect for the unknown being whom we call the transcendent Omnipotent, I never doubted this that the worship conducted in the Mandir would likewise similarly reach its objective destination as does the worship performed in the Mosque." [Ibid Page:7]
"During the annual festival of Shri Sita Ram kalyanum, our household would organise boats in which was a special mount so that statues of Bhagwan could be carried from the Mandir to the wedding halls. This wedding hall was between a reservoir which was called Ram Tirith & was near to our home. My mother & grandmother would tell the children of our household incidents of Rama & the Prophet, salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam, at bedtime." [Ibid Page:10]
Dr. 'Abdul Kalam demonstrates enlightened thought & inner enlightenment as he broadens the canvas of Islamic values & worship by transcending to worship & idolatry in the court of the Mandir & whose ears are accustomed to hear events from Islamic Sacred history & stories of Sanskrit Gods. After [understanding] this we must not hesitate in arriving at this conclusion that he [Dr. Abdul Kalam] is preparing to forge Indian Muslims in which kind of fiery casting? The personal & private comments made by 'Abdul Kalam [in his self authored biography] elucidating upon his beliefs & theological thinking & also after knowledge of his family circumstances does it leave any room or opportunity for any kind of forged interpretations that in the mentioned "Unity of Religions" of his SSD requires the inconvenience of hadhaf & idhafah? Or to suggest "Unity of Religions" implies "Unity of followers of Religions" thereby trampling over the true thoughts & mind of 'Abdul Kalam?
Aims & Objectives of FUREC
Now let's review the aims & objectives of FUREC i.e. Foundation For Unity of Religions & Enlightened Citizenship:
"(4) Aim: To promote and implement the Surat Spiritual Declaration (Attached as appendix) by sustaining the human spirit on the basis of acceptance of, and respect for, all religions…"
(Page 5)
That is: Without compromising Islamic spirit, merely on the basis of the spirit of humanity & sympathy, to accept all faiths; Hindu, Christians, Sikh, Jains & Buddhism, all these false faiths be respected & by practically promoting the SSD implement these in India. In the sight of Allah, The Dignified Lord, only the Religion of Islam is the acceptable & desired Religion & all other faiths rejected & false. According to the aforementioned clause in FUREC's Memorandum, not only do we have to accept all other faiths more so, their respect is also imperative for us.
"(5) (d) To organise multi-religious function to popularise joint celebration of religious festivals, Common Community Kitchens and multi-religious prayers." (Page 5)
That is: Whereas Muslims once celebrated 'id al-Fitr, id al-Adha & id Milad al-Nabi [salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam], now they will also celebrate with Hindus Diwali, play Holi also, with id Milad al-Nabi [salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam] jointly celebrate the birth of Kishan Kanhya also, celebrate Christmas with Christians also & jointly participate in Guru Nanak's birthday with Sikhs. Likewise, as of yesterday where we were only distributing & eating food from the Shrines of the Awliya' Allah, now in light of this FUREC clause we will also distribute the trays of food offered in the Mandirs & Churches & eat it. Subsequently, establish multi-faith meetings & gatherings to make prayers common for the promotion of & solidarity with Hindu faith, Sikh faith, Christian faith & Buddhist faith [& other practiced faiths in India], protection of their places of worship & promotion of their values.
"(e) To provide for inter-faith dialogue and a common platform for multiple-religions to work together towards religious harmony…" (Page 6)
That is: to promote inter-faith dialogue & in order to accept each others faith, merge all religions together so that a joint platform may be established [for this cause].
"(f) To promote universal values of all religions." (Page 6)
That is: to eradicate the identity of the values of a single religion and promote the universal values of all religions; which are: rites & customs, modes of conduct, etiquettes, civilisation & culture & promote [closer] relationships [perhaps inter-marriage, etc] & also to accept the universality of values [truths] of all religions.
"(l) To arrange for the writings, editing, translating and publishing, books, encyclopaedias, periodicals, rare manuscripts, monographs and generate audio visual materials and other technological forms of dissemination on Unity of Religions." (Page 6)
That is: in order to promote & propagate the ideology of Unity of Religions in India, bring into use all means of communication; Print & Electronic means [the Web, etc].
"(z) To preserve rare manuscripts, letters, pictures, stone images, artist works and archaeological and historical exhibits and establish archives/museums." (Page 7)
Surat Spiritual Declaration
Now let's review certain excerpts from the SSD. Note, that this is the very SSD of Dr. 'Abdul Kalam, for the promotion of which the Society FUREC was established & this very SSD has a fundamental status in the aforementioned Society.
"The Present Condition
…we find that our nation is facing loss of confidence in itself, at various levels. There is lack of tolerance for others' religion, faith and philosophy or viewpoints; there is lack of harmony; there is lack of respect for moral, ethical and cultural values …" (Page 40)
That is: tolerance for the beliefs & theoretical & philosophical views of false religions, rid the lack of harmony & respect [between all faiths], is now the fundamental aim of FUREC. Take note: Here, Dr. 'Abdul Kalam is complaining about the lack of tolerance of false beliefs, faiths/religions, philosophies & ideologies, i.e. with the kufr [itself], not with [lack of] tolerance of followers of those false faiths.
"Religion A Beautiful Partner In The Nation's Prosperity
Religions are like exquisite gardens, places full of surpassing beauty and tranquillity, like sacred groves filled with beautiful birds and their melodious songs. Religions are beautiful gardens, but they are islands. They are enchanting islets, veritable oases for the soul and the spirit. But they are islands nevertheless. If we can connect all these islands with love and compassion, in a 'garland project', we will have a peaceful, happy and prosperous India in front of us. Universal truths embodied in each religion are very similar and they will help to form the bridge thus reinforcing basic unity." (Page 42)
Readers! Read attentively the above figurative composition which is absorbed in kufr & apostasy. False religions are like beautiful gardens, full of surpassing beauty & tranquillity, all false religions are like enchanting islets & they are for the soul and the spirit veritable oases. If by means of love & sympathy these islets are joined together in a project like one necklace of flowers [garland], i.e. merge all religions together then a better nation India awaits us & then this that all religions are true which will assist in [mutual] unity.
Here, by declaring all religions exquisite & beautiful gardens the lesson we are taught is to renounce the Divine call of "Inna al-Din 'inda Allahi al-Islam" [Verily! The Din (acceptable & chosen) according to Allah, is (only) al-Islam; the Faith & Practice of Islam] by beautifying all false religions & extending homage of trust & dignity to them.
"…In order to achieve this, in addition to concentrating on education of the youth, there is also need for continual education of adult population and senior citizens on values of lives and about the basic spirituality unity of all religions." (Page 42)
Also…,
"Project 1
Every month in all parts of India there can be a multi-religious gathering to convey the core message attempted in the prayer of peace and about the basic truths contained in various religions."
(Page 43)
"…Such a prayer should be preceded by prayers from all religions practised in that part of the country by respective religious and spiritual leaders in the presence of the people. Each month the day selected could be a holy day from one religion: Islam, Hindu, Christianity, Sikh, Parsi, Jain, Buddhist etc." (Page 43)
"…Regular conduct of such meetings by all-religious leaders and people from different religions respecting holy days of other religions will send a powerful message. If possible such gatherings can take place at the religious places where all persons from other religions also can gather on that day."
(Page 43)
"… People should also exchange pleasantries and sweets during these meetings as is the practice in some parts of the country where 'unity of minds' prevails." (Page 43)
"… In addition, in order to spread the message of equality to everybody on that day a 'langar' (community kitchen and eating) can be arranged so that all people eat common food sitting side by side." (Page 43)
"How to organise these? WE believe that, if all the religious and spiritual groups build strong connectivity between their own beautiful islands of happiness and solace, it is possible to turn these monthly meetings into mass movements for respecting each other's rituals, ways of life or view points." (Page 43)
"Project 2
…People will see for themselves that multiple religions are working together for common good. These efforts will elevate religions in the minds of the people and the nation will benefit." (Page 44)
"Project 3
All religious educational institutions operating in different parts of the country should enrol children from other religions in certain proportions and imbibe values such as religious tolerance, righteousness. The real purpose and the unity of religions should be embedded in the minds of the students." (Page 44)
In the Memorandum of this Society [FUREC] perhaps there is an Article which does not clash with true Islam & perhaps there is a clause which is not warring against the character of Shari'ah & Islamic theological views. The presence of such a Society is a danger alarm for Muslims of India which is, in the pretext of love, tolerance, unity, education & spirituality yearns to make them followers of a new religion [a new ideology -faith]. Until yesterday, what the RSS could not do through force, oppression & [civil] law, today their own civil representatives in the pretext of spirituality desire to extract the Ruh e Muhammadi [salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam] from the bodies of Muslims. And, they yearn to extinguish the hardness of Islam from their minds & thoughts which is the ultimate wealth of life for a believer.
Now, in light of the aforementioned articles & clauses of the Society it is an incumbent responsibility devolving upon our Dar al-Ifta' [Institutions that issue fatwa'; Islamic Legal Interpretation] that they issue the Shar'iy judgement to guarantee the protection of the faith & beliefs of millions of Muslims & severely hold those people to accountability who with utmost dexterity by translating the Memorandum originally written in the English language, are acquiring certification [fatwa' by deception] for its permissibility [lawfulness in Islam] to make the Society active. Not only this, rather these people prepared cases of [personal] injustices & oppression before the Dar al-Ifta' for the fulfilment of their personal interest where they find the moth of permissibility with "ifs & buts, surat mas'uwl 'anha [a legal case as described by the petitioner] & bar sidq rawi [on condition of truthfulness propounded by the petitioner] like jumlah shartiyyah [restricted sentence -not general]. At the same time, our Noble Mufti's also do not endeavour to learn the truth [reality of the situation] whereas; today the time has come that, certain sensitive issues should not be answered by merely trusting the surat mas'uwlah [the legal case as described by the petitioner] on the contrary, should endeavour to learn the truth between the lines of the question, if they abstain from doing as such then who will arrive to unveil the true circumstances? This very religious hardness & religious identity of ours is standing before the world as a challenge. If this was to be lost then what else will we be left with?
Clarification
The conspiracy painted to promote the ideological apostasy in the SSD & FUREC's Memorandum; it is possible the elite protect themselves by reinterpretations & elucidations from this, however, if this was to achieve success on a public level then the masses without explanation will fall prey of ideological apostasy. This was the very fundamental reason which compelled me to raise my pen to uncover.
